K.J. McDaniels’s D-League Designation Doesn’t Mean The Sixers Were Right

So in case you don’t keep up on the daily goings on of the Houston Rockets or the Rio Grand Valley Vipers, you might have missed this:

You probably already know the backstory to how we landed here, so let’s keep it short: the Sixers landed K.J. McDaniels probablya few spots below his value in the second round of last year’s draft; the Sixers then offered K.J. a “Hinkie” special, which he understandably rejected; K.J. and his mom then hinted that he Read the rest

Sixers Get The Best Kind Of Loss In Charlotte

Philadelphia 76ers 91 Final
Recap | Box Score
92 Charlotte Hornets
Furkan Aldemir, PF 29 MIN | 2-4 FG | 4-6 FT | 6 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 8 PTS | -2 +/-Save for his rebounding, Furkan looked like he knew how to do little on a basketball court when he joined the Sixers earlier this season. Lately however, he’s played some stellar defense and has even looked semi-competent on the offensive side of the ball. Could he become the next JaKarr Sampson? Could JaKarr Sampson become the next

Clips Get The W, But Not Without A Career Night From Nerlens Noel

Los Angeles Clippers 119 Final
Recap | Box Score
98 Philadelphia 76ers
Robert Covington, SF 24 MIN | 0-4 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 2 PTS | -8 +/-Ever since suffering a right elbow contusion at the month’s start, Bob’s night-to-night performance has been all over the place. Coming off of back-to-back 20+ point performances where he made a combined 15 of his 26 field goals, the Clippers held Covington to his first goose egg from the field in over four months. Not great,

The Jazz Scored 89 Points, The Sixers Scored Less Than 89 Points

Utah Jazz 89 Final
Recap | Box Score
83 Philadelphia 76ers
Nerlens Noel, C 37 MIN | 5-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 11 REB | 1 AST | 6 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 10 PTS | -9 +/-Not a great offensive outing for Noel, but that can be expected when facing the Favors-Gobert frontline. The high-top fade filled the numbers elsewhere however, snatching up six errant Utah passes while registering his fourth double-double over his last five games.

With The Help Of Some Fresh Faces, Sixers Down A Playoff Team

Washington Wizards 81 Final
Recap | Box Score
89 Philadelphia 76ers
Isaiah Canaan, PG 22 MIN | 3-11 FG | 1-1 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 8 PTS | -2 +/-Not a particularly overwhelming performance from the Canaanball tonight, but he nevertheless remained effective. Despite giving up nearly four inches to John Wall, Canaan’s pesky defending played a vital role in the All-Star’s 7-26 clunker.

From Carter-Williams To Canaan

Advanced stats verdict: MCW and Canaan aren't good NBA point guards right now.

“It was all good just a week ago.”

Well, kinda. Things in Sixer Land — at least on the court — started looking up in the days leading into the extended All-Star break; Philadelphia had won four of its last eight games, the team was boasting the league’s eighth-best defensive efficiency in 2015, Michael Carter-Williams was finally learning to pass a basketball, and K.J. McDaniels was dunking on everything in sight. Some manifestation of slight progress finally came to fruition after that rocky 0-17 start, and there was hope that this team could potentially silence its most ardent detractors … Read the rest
