Our 44th President had a handful of youthful flirtations that, while benign, have proved to be mildly embarrassing to him in political life; chief among them, a bit of drug dabbling. Now we can add another to the list.
In a BOMBSHELL of world-historic proportions Market Watch dropped yesterday, Barack Obama admitted to once being…a Sixers fan?
On a fundraising tour out West, President Barack Obama on Monday stopped by the house of basketball great Earvin “Magic” Johnson. According to a pool report, Obama revealed that he was being tailed on the trip by New Yorker editor David Remnick, who asked the president about the significance of meeting Johnson.
“First of all, understand that I was a 76ers fan,” Obama said, to boos from the audience.
Obama quickly won the Los Angeles crowd over, but his professed fandom of the Philadelphia team comes as a surprise.
The speculation is that this affinity, which has since passed, had a lot to do with BO’s peripatetic, geographically rootless childhood–no opportunity to forge a bond with a local team–and the fact that Dr. J was straight TRUTH when the president was coming up. We’re inclined to agree. Also: a room with Barack Obama, Magic Johnson, and David Remnick sounds incredible.
Anyway, it’s a shame Obama doesn’t keep tabs on the team anymore. Something tells me Sam Hinkie would have some solutions for Healthcare.gov.
