Clips Get The W, But Not Without A Career Night From Nerlens Noel

Los Angeles Clippers 119 Final
Recap | Box Score
98 Philadelphia 76ers
Robert Covington, SF 24 MIN | 0-4 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 2 PTS | -8 +/-Ever since suffering a right elbow contusion at the month’s start, Bob’s night-to-night performance has been all over the place. Coming off of back-to-back 20+ point performances where he made a combined 15 of his 26 field goals, the Clippers held Covington to his first goose egg from the field in over four months. Not great,

Six Thoughts On The Sixers’ Win Over The Nuggets

1. There are plenty of teams out of playoff contention that have checked out or half-checked out in the last few weeks. The Sixers aren’t one of them. Playing on the second half of a back to back in Denver’s high altitude, the Philly looked fresher than the Nuggets, closing out on 3-point shooters, getting to loose balls, and getting back on fastbreaks. That effort and fitness edge looked like it was the difference, as the Sixers outscored the Nuggets 27-9 in the fourth quarter and escaped with a 99-85 win.

I predicted 20 wins before the season, in … Read the rest

Sixers Throw Game Away In Sacramento

Philadelphia 76ers 106 Final
Recap | Box Score
107 Sacramento Kings
Robert Covington, SF 27 MIN | 7-9 FG | 2-4 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 4 TO | 21 PTS | +11 +/-It’s hard to give him anything lower than an A- when his ridiculous run of 12 points in under 1 minute and 45 seconds is the only reason the Sixers had a chance down the stretch. Yes, he missed a game-tying free-throw late, but you can’t ignore his barrage of 3-pointers that essentially turned him into

Sixers Collapse And Lose HUGE Game. That’s A Good Thing.

Philadelphia 76ers 87 Final
Recap | Box Score
101 Los Angeles Lakers
Nerlens Noel, C 33 MIN | 4-9 FG | 1-2 FT | 7 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 0 TO | 9 PTS | -13 +/-He was his usual self defensively, steering away shots by simply with his presence. But overall, this was rookie Nerlens at his worst. He was pushed around some on defense, and on offense he took some ill-advised shots with mostly bad results. His night took a turn for the worse after he got hit in the

Sixers Beat Pistons, Haunt SVG

Nerlens Noel, C 22 MIN | 5-10 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 3 BLK | 1 TO | 11 PTS | +2 +/-Noel continues to assert his defensive dominance. Prior to leaving the game with a right foot contusion, Noel showed that he could consistently hold his own against superior big men such as Andre Drummond.

Sixers Lose To Bulls, Win Ping Pong Balls

Nerlens Noel: A

Given how Pau Gasol started the game (on fire), the fact that he looked noticeably uncomfortable on the block by the end of the night is a huge testament to Noel’s defensive tenacity. Nerlens was everywhere: four steals, two blocks, 15 rebounds. His presence in the paint is essentially the only factor that kept the Sixers alive in their dismal third quarter.

Ish Smith: B+

Smith’s step-back 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter was maybe the play of the game. It pulled the Sixers within one point of the Bulls, and was on the heels of Noel … Read the rest
