MCW Grabs Triple-Double, Sixers Grab Win

Minnesota Timberwolves 94 Final
Recap | Box Score
103 Philadelphia 76ers
Robert Covington, SF 34 MIN | 4-15 FG | 2-2 FT | 4 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | +2 +/-Big Shot Bob made some big threes, including one especially impressive Reggie Miller-esque one in the second half. The Sixers started off 0-17. Since then, MCW and Big Shot Bob have fully entered the picture and they are 10-20.

Nerlens Noel, C 31 MIN | 7-8 FG | 0-0 FT | 6 REB | 3 AST | 4 STL | 6 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | +6 +/-You get an A, young man! Struggled to body up Pek in the first quarter, but was mostly excellent throughout. Flirted with a 5×5 and was genuinely fun to watch. Felt like he was trying to send a message to Wiggins, the presumptive Rookie of the Year. Go get ’em Nerlens.

Michael Carter-Williams, PG 35 MIN | 6-13 FG | 5-6 FT | 10 REB | 10 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 5 TO | 17 PTS | 0 +/-You get an A, young man! MCW scored his 5th career triple-double and led the Sixers to a win over the hapless T-wolves. Ever since Noel (sorta) publicly scolded him, it seems like MCW has been playing less hero ball and making the right pass more often. Good.

Jerami Grant, SF 21 MIN | 2-4 FG | 2-4 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 8 PTS | +7 +/-It’s been a blast watching Jerami come onto the scene the past couple weeks. He had a beautiful steal, and was 2-for-3 from deep. It’s looking more and more like Hinkie nabbed himself a second-round steal.

By the Numbers:

23. It’s been 23 games since the Sixers scored over 100 points. It came in that incredibly depressing overtime loss to the Grizzlies. At least this trip to triple-digits was coupled with a win!

Tweet of the Game:

It’s only a matter of time…

Parting Shots:
The Sixers looked dangerously competent at times during this game, and, with the win, this was the third time this season that they’ve won two in a row. That said, savor these recent wins. With a two-game road trip going through Atlanta and Cleveland coming up, things could get awfully ugly awfully fast.

And on a personal note, I just wish Thad Young would once get to play on a good NBA team. He is a free agent this off-season. Pick a good one, Thad. You’ve earned it.
