UPDATE: Sixers to hire Big Bang Ballers’ Brett Brown?

Update: Sam Hinkie denied the New York Daily News report. I jumped the gun, sorry about that.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better for the Sixers, they went ahead and hired a Gregg Popovich-approved coach. The NY Daily News has reported Brett Brown, Pop’s assistant for seven seasons, is on his way to Philadelphia where he’ll get to coach Nerlens Noel, Michael Carter-Williams, Nate Wolters, and whoever’s left by opening night.

At first glance, it’s a great hire. He’s got seven years of Spurs experience and he’s not a retread. Plus, he’s an ambassador for the Big Bang Ballers, an “international NGO, using the game of basketball to tackle youth poverty and social disadvantage.” First-team, All-NBA Cares.

People were panicking this past week, because, how the hell are they supposed to draft without a head coach??? Uhh, yeah. You don’t need a head coach to make good personnel decisions.
